The Forester men's
cross country teams competed in the MCC Conference Championships at Bethel College over the weekend where both teams finished fourth.
The HU men ran to a fourth place finish with 102 points. With only Nathan Martin of Spring Arbor in front of him, Joseph Herber led the Foresters with his second place finish in 25:32. Lance Wood earned a 13th place finish with his 26:29 time. Nathan Rupp crossed in 26:57 for a 21st place while Alex Rosario finished in 27:17 for 31st place. Daniel Becker rounded out HU's scoring with a 35th place finish in 27:43. Other runners for HU were Seth Murphy (39th, 28:00) and Matt Bittner (43rd, 28:11).
Herber's second place finish earned him MCC All-Conference honors and an automatic trip to the NAIA National Championships on November 20 in Vancouver, Washington.
Indiana Wesleyan won the men's team title with a score of 50 followed by Spring Arbor (63), Marian (77), HU (102), Goshen (111), Taylor (139), Grace (172), Bethel (200) and Saint Francis (239).
On the women's side, the Foresters finished fourth with a score of 121. Cendall Ogle paced HU with an 11th place finish in 19:06. Krystal McHenry crossed in 20:11 for a 23rd place finish. On her heels was Diamond Setterberg who finished in 20:11 to finish 24th. Molly Shirey was 29th in 20:26 while Miranda Boyts posted a 20:59 for 34th place. Other runners for HU were Bradie Vance (37th, 21:07) and Abbey Wise (61st, 24:50).
Ogle's 11th place finish qualified her for the NAIA National meet on November 20 in Vancouver, Washington. Her finish also secured her MCC All-Conference honors.
