In another MCC doubleheader, the Foresters (6-18, 4-8) dropped two games to Bethel College with a disappointing 2-1 loss in the opener and a 12-0 defeat in the nightcap.
In game one, HU freshman hurler, Lauren Ward, had another stellar performance on the mound, but the Forester bats couldn't provide enough help to pull off the upset over the 23-5 Pilots. After four scoreless innings, Kendra Stahl beat out an infield hit with two outs in the bottom of the fifth and advanced to second on a passed ball. Ashley Scally then came up with a timely double to drive in Stahl and put the Foresters up 1-0. In the top of the sixth, Bethel came back with two infield hits and a double to forge ahead 2-1. HU hit three pop-ups in the sixth and went down in order in their final at-bat.
Ward threw all seven innings and allowed two runs on eight hits, while striking out eight. Of the 114 pitches Ward made in the game, 86 were for a strike. The Foresters managed just three hits in the game.
In game two, it was all Pilots as they scored three runs in four different innings to rout HU 12-0 in five innings. Bethel's Somer Stilley and Emily Perrenot combined for the two-hit shutout. Stahl took the loss for the Foresters, giving up nine runs on nine hits and three walks in three and a third innings.
