The HU women's soccer
team picked up their second win of the week with a 4-1 decision over visiting Rochester College on Saturday afternoon.
While the Foresters were on attack through much of the first half, they were only able to make good on one opportunity when Kate Bienz scored at the 21:45 mark on a blast from just outside the box. The Warriors answered six minutes into the second half to knot the score 1-1. HU then took control of the game. Claire Creasy started the debacle by knocked one in after dribbling past the keeper to push the Foresters back on top 2-1. Ten minutes later Brittany Hartman found the back of the net and then Amanda Macahilig polished off the scoring when she chipped one over the keeper at the 80:05 mark.
"This was a solid win for our team. Rochester made it a competitive game for us in the first half," commented Coach Burgher. "At the beginning of the year our team would have kept it at a 2-1 game, but as the season goes on, our girls have realized that scoring goals is more exciting than keeping games close."
The Foresters outshot the Warriors 18-7. HU keeper Caitlin Adams finished with two saves. Huntington (8-6-1) hosts Spring Arbor on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
