Foresters Sixth in MCC Tournament

 The Forester men's tennis team entered the MCC Conference Tennis Tournament held at Concordia High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana hoping to improve their sixth place regular season finish, but won just two matches to remain sixth in the final standings.

In singles play, #5 Jason Stump was the only Forester to pick up a win. He defeated Marcus Moore (Grace) 6-3, 6-3, but then fell in the semis 6-4, 6-2 to Josh Kiefer (Bethel). In other singles action for HU, Tyler Moore lost to Luke Helm (IWU) 6-4, 6-0 at #1. At #2, Mitchell McDonald fell to Josh Dendiu (Bethel) 6-0, 6-4. Daron Short lost to Kyle Brown (Taylor) 6-2, 6-1 at #3. Brian Lambright lost to Dan DeRose (Spring Arbor) 6-4, 6-1 at #4, and at #6 Adam Widener fell to Justin Clark (Spring Arbor) 6-0, 6-4.

In doubles, it was again Stump who teamed with McDonald to earn the Foresters second point with their 8-0 win over Moore and Sloop (Grace). The pair then fell to Grubbs and Rohde (Bethel) 7-5, 6-2 in the semifinals. HU's #1 doubles team of Moore and Lambright lost to Cortes and Dendiu (Bethel) 8-1 in their first round match and #2 doubles, Short and Dustin Ecker, fell 8-3 to Hathaway and Wright (IWU).

Bethel slid by Marian 15 to 14 to win the conference title. IWU was third with 13 points followed by Taylor (11), Spring Arbor (7), HU (2), Grace (1), and Goshen (0). The MCC All-Conference team included Jorge Burmicky (Taylor), Kiko Cortes (Bethel), Joel Dendiu (Bethel), Chad Hathaway (IWU), Luke Helm (IWU), Jordan Hoy (Spring Arbor), Phil Jackson (IWU), Matt Lantz (Spring Arbor), Jesse Martin (Marian), and Landon Reifsnider (Grace). The MCC Coach of the Year was Marian's coach, Todd Bacon.
