The NAIA 25th-ranked Forester men's cross country team opened their season with a win at the Goshen College Hokum Karem. HU's Cody Hannie and Nick Johnson took top honors in the two-man relay with a combined time of 54:42 with teammates Alex Milentis and Dan Lindbloom right behind them in 54:54. David St. Louis and Michael Lehman finished fifth in 57:24. The Foresters won with eight points followed by Bethel (20), Goshen (21), and Grace (29).
In the women's race, Emily Sealscott and Shelly Chaffin paced the Foresters with a fourth place finish in 40:39. Molly Andrews and Jill Roughia were sixth in 40:59 and Leah Birkey and Megan DeRenzo finished 11th in 42:47. Goshen won the event with 14 points with Bethel second at 18, HU third at 20 and Grace fourth at 26.
