Forester soccer rolls past Spartans

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Forester women’s soccer team earned their fourth shutout of the season with a 5-0 win over Manchester University Tuesday afternoon. With this win, HU improves to 4-1.

It took less than ten minutes for HU to take control of the match when Erin Barclay tapped one in after Lisa Underwood ripped a shot the keeper couldn’t handle. Kaitlyn Dreman made it 2-0 off a free kick 15 minutes later and then Bethany Quinn blasted one past the keeper just before halftime to give the visitors a comfortable 3-0 lead.

Bethany Cardenas got into the mix in the 82nd minute by logging her first collegiate goal and then Elise Mamanu-Grey capped off the debacle by dribbling through three Spartan players for a 1v1 with the keeper just before the final buzzer.

Huntington held the Spartans shotless in the first period and proceeded to give up a mere two shots in the final 45 minutes while generating 20 shots of their own for the game, 11 of which were on goal.

Keeper Samantha Barclay logged her third shutout of the season. She finished with one save on the day.

HU takes the field again today at the CCAC in Warsaw, Indiana, where they will face Lawrence Technological University at 3:00 p.m.
