In addition to helping kids, ranging from K-9th grade, hone their basketball skills, head coach Ty Platt loves the interaction that takes place between the campers and his players.

“I think the strength of our camp is that our college guys work well with our campers and they interact with them a lot and as a results, these campers then come back and want to watch them play in the winter time,” said Platt.

“We want them to come in here during the summer camp and learn some things, work on their games and all those kind of things, but we also want them to see and interact with our college guys because our college guys are high character and high integrity and also very good ball players.”

The week also gives the Forester squad a chance to reflect on their own game, while allowing the players, both new and old, to build a unique bond.

“It gives the players a chance to not only play once camps are over but to spend some time together and become better acquainted and tighter teammates,” said Platt.

“We’ve got seven new players mixing with six returnees so this opportunity to get to know each other will only benefit in the long run.”

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 16 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 39 NAIA All-America honors and 213 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
