HUNTINGTON, Ind. – For the first time in Forester history, the Huntington University men’s and women’s basketball teams will both be competing in the NAIA Division II Basketball National Championships slated for March 12-18.
For Coach Culler and squad, it marks the fifth trip to the big dance with their last appearance in 2012. To date, the Foresters have posted a 2-4 record at the national tournament.
This year, Huntington (23-8) received the fifth at-large bid. The 32-team tournament is seeded in four brackets of eight teams with HU receiving one of the #5 seeds.
Huntington’s opening round opponent will be 4th-seeded Menlo College (Atherton, Calif.) and they will face off at 12:00 p.m. CST on Thursday, March 13. The Oaks (25-5) punched their ticket to nationals as the California Pacific tournament champions. This is their sixth appearance. They have accumulated a tournament record of 1-5.
The winner will advance to the sweet sixteen to take on the winner of the #1 Northwestern (Ia.)/#8 Tabor (Kan.) game on Friday, March 14 at 1:45 p.m. CST.
The 23rd annual State Farm-NAIA Division II Women’s Basketball National Championship will take place at the Tyson Events Center/Gateway Arena in Sioux City, Iowa.

After a six-year absence, the Forester men (24-7) are excited to be making the trip back to the campus of the College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout (Mo.) for the 23rd annual Division II Men’s Basketball National Championship.
This will be HU’s eighth trip to nationals with their highest finish coming in 2006 when they reached the championship game. They boast a tournament record of 11-7.
Huntington received the fourth at-large bid and enters the tournament as the 16th seed. They will square off against #18 Southeastern University (Fla.) (24-6) on Wednesday, March 12 at 4:00 p.m. CST. This is the Fire’s first appearance at nationals. They enter the tournament having received the fifth at-large bid.
The winner will play on Friday, March 14 at 1:45 p.m. CST against the winner of the #1 Cardinal Stritch/Northern New Mexico game.
