#20 Trojans slip past Foresters

UPLAND, Ind. - The HU volleyball team gave 20th-ranked Taylor University all they could handle Wednesday night but came up short, losing to the Trojans in four, 25-23, 25-23, 25-19, 25-19. With this loss, Huntington drops to 1-10 overall, 1-5 in league play.

It was obvious from opening serve the visiting Foresters came to play as they jumped out to early leads in three of the four sets with the second set going HU’s way. Huntington didn’t back down from the four-time defending regular season champs and it was Abbey Keister leading the Forester attack with 13 kills. Melissa Grossman connected on .333 percent of her kills to finish with ten while Kaylee Searles added nine.

Jensen Carnahan dished out 45 assists. Katie Bowers logged a team-high 17 digs while Heather Medich and Codie Morey tallied 14 apiece. HU outplayed Taylor at the net defensively to finish with ten team blocks to the Trojans’ eight.

Huntington is back on the road Friday to face Marian University at 7:00 p.m.
