Huntington, Ind.— The new year's performance season at Huntington University opens with a recital by pianist Drew Wutke on Tuesday, January 19. The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Longaker Recital Hall of the Merillat Centre for the Arts.
Wutke is performing as part of the university's Faculty Artist Series, sponsored by the Music Department. The recital is free of charge and open to the public, but seating is limited. For further information, call 260-359-4262.
"If you desire to experience fine classical music, and need a break from American Idol, you’ll enjoy the programming of the evening," said Wutke.
The program also will include performances by guest artists Missi (Cole) Wust, piano and Erin Bean, vocal. The night’s music includes piano works from Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, and Ravel. A four-hands, one piano version of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
A 2005 music graduate from Huntington University, Wutke is currently an adjunct professor and also a music pastor at The Well. For the last four years, Wutke also has served as music director and conductor for the HU Theatre Department, including this season’s production of "Disney’s Beauty and the Beast."
