College announces annual concert of sacred music
“The Red-Haired Priest” comes to First Presbyterian Church Oct. 23
Huntington, Ind.—The Department of Music at Huntington College will present its 15th Annual Church Music Concert on Monday, October 23, at 8 p.m., at First Presbyterian Church, 50 E. Tipton Street, Huntington.
This year's program, entitled The Red-Haired Priest, highlights the music of Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi and features faculty artists Hiromi Ito, violin, and Michael Brennan, guitar.
Maestro Ito is concertmaster of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic. He will join the Huntington College Orchestra as soloist in the Spring and Winter suites of The Four Seasons, one of Vivaldi's best known works and a tour-de-force for the violin soloist.
Professor Brennan will be the soloist with the orchestra for Vivaldi's Guitar Concerto in D, a lively work that highlights intricate fingering and virtuosity in the guitarist.
The Huntington College Concert Choir and student soloists will join the orchestra for a performance of the Vivaldi Gloria, a joyous setting of the second section of the Ordinary of the Mass.
