Counseling professor to discuss mental health trends at the Foundation’s breakfast

Huntington, Ind. — The February Foundation Breakfast at Huntington University will explore the most recent trends in the field of mental health.

Dr. Jerry Davis, director of the graduate counseling program at HU, will explore these issues and will also give an update on how the university is responding to these needs through the LifeSpring Counseling Center and the graduate counseling program. The breakfast is Feb. 9.

The LifeSpring Counseling Center is an individual, couple, family and group counseling center located on Huntington’s campus where graduate students under supervision by university faculty conduct free therapy sessions.

Davis is a licensed clinical social worker, licensed marriage and family therapist, licensed mental health counselor and a national certified counselor. Davis has done private practice counseling with Samaritan Centers, Parkview Behavioral Health and The Family Care Center in Fort Wayne. He currently serves as a professor of counseling at HU and a part-time counselor for Grace & Truth Counseling Services, a ministry of College Park Church of the United Brethren in Christ in Huntington.

The public is invited to attend. The breakfast will begin at 7:45 a.m. in the Habecker Dining Commons and conclude by 9 a.m. The cost of the breakfast is $6. First-time attendees eat free courtesy of Bailey-Love Mortuary.

The Foundation’s breakfast is held on the second Wednesday of every month during the school year.
