Jordan Dawes is an intern for the interns.
Dawes, a business management major, worked his senior year with Huntington University’s Enterprise Resource Center, helping students to find jobs. One of his main tasks was to critique and to help students edit their résumés before jobs or internships.
“I feel like I am helping (students) get one step closer to employment,” he said.
Dawes learned about the internship from a campus-wide email. He was immediately excited and knew he wanted to apply. He had always thought it would be interesting to work for a university, and he knew that this would be a great opportunity to see how this small division of the university operates.
From working in the ERC, Dawes learned how to help other students prepare themselves for future endeavors, but he learned on the job, as well.
Dawes graduated in May 2012, but not before he left the ERC with a huge recommendation.
“The ERC does a great job of connecting students with local employers that would be happy to have a student worker. The employers in the ERC are very involved in the Huntington community and this helps them get to know employers and spread the good word about Huntington University students,” he said.
