Students capture first in national broadcasting competition

001 2014 Broadcast Awards
HUNTINGTON, Ind. — Three Huntington University students were recognized for their first place achievements in the 2014 Intercollegiate National Religious Broadcasters Awards.

Julia Moore, a junior film production major from Roscoe, Ill., won first place in the long film category for “Overcomer.” Moore, who put the finishing touches on her film after she transferred to Huntington this year, credits the school for allowing her the opportunity to enter such a competition.

Ashish Dhingra, a senior film production and philosophy major from Haryana, India, and Kevin Turner, a senior film production major from Hubertus, Wis., collaborated on the entry “Stronger” which won first place in the music video category. Dhingra and Turner worked with Hannah Anderson, a small, independent artist based out of Houston, Texas.

Part of the coursework in the film production major is designed to help instruct students in how to create pieces like those entered in this competition.
“The faculty are really proud of them,” said Dr. Lance Clark, professor of digital media arts film and communication. “Winning here is a great accomplishment at a national level, and we’re honored to have our students have national recognition for their work. It’s a fantastic way to represent the film program here at Huntington.”
