HUNTINGTON, Ind.— The Huntington University Peer Award recipients for February are Sandy Marion, admissions receptionist, and Dr. Kent Eilers, assistant professor of theology.

The Peer Award, which began in 2003, promotes acknowledgment and recognition of the outstanding efforts of Huntington University faculty and staff members. Award winners are chosen and recognized each month by fellow peers.

Marion was recognized by Polly Tribolet, accounts payable/student payroll processor, because of her welcoming personality.

“Sandy is an awesome first impression for HU. From the moment you enter the Admissions Office as a campus visitor she does whatever is necessary to make you feel welcome. Sandy is a team player who always wears a smile,” Tribolet said. “She truly has a servant’s heart in all areas of her life and blesses not only visitors and prospective students but all of the HU community.”

Eilers was recognized by Jay Duffer, assistant professor of theatre arts, because he is a dedicated, skilled and passionate teacher.

“In our many conversations, he has imparted such wisdom to me in regards to teaching effectiveness. He is always respectful of students and colleagues. He is graciously giving of his time. You will notice him on many occasions having lunch with a student or making efforts to serve the university/community beyond just teaching,” Duffer said. “He is truly Christ-centered. I am honored to pass along this award to Kent. He is an invaluable colleague and a treasured friend.”
