Recipients of the Huntington University PEER AWARD for the month of May are Polly Tribolet and Mark Hesting.

Sandy Hartle passed the PEER AWARD to Polly Tribolet. Polly is Accounts Payable/Student Payroll Processor and has been with HU for 15 years. In recognizing Polly, Sandy writes “I probably bug Polly 6-7 times a week with various questions, issues, or mistakes I’ve made and she is always gracious and helpful. I’m just waiting for the day that she tells me to figure it out for myself  but she never makes me feel like I’m a bother. And when I was shaken by the severe health issues of a HU student, she not only showed sincere concern and offered prayers for her well-being, she also made it financially possible for me to go and visit her.”

Lance Clark passed the PEER AWARD to Mark Hesting. Mark serves as Maintenance Technician and has been with HU for 13 years. In recognizing Mark, Lance writes, “I have had the privilege of getting to know Mark pretty well over the past 13 years as he has repaired or made recommendations for repairs in our Digital Media Arts dept. He always has a genuine encouraging smile and comments whenever we interact or pass each other on the campus perimeter drive. Mark, like all those who work in maintenance, has a “can do” attitude that always finds a way to get the job done under stressful conditions. This past month we had a stairwell railing break down between 1st and 2nd floors in The Martin Center for Digital Media Arts and Mark was the one who came over and made sure it was properly and safely fixed. You can tell he takes pride in his work even in the little things. I so appreciate his positive attitude and Christ centered approach to his work at Huntington University.”

About our Peer Award Program

Focus

The focus of the PEER AWARD is to promote acknowledgement and recognition of the outstanding efforts of faculty and staff members. Award winners will be chosen and recognized each month by fellow peers. A traveling award will be presented each month. Each recipient will also receive a special, personalized award to keep. Two awards will be presented each month. The award winners from the previous month will choose a winner to recognize at the beginning of the next month.

Criteria

The award winner should be a faculty or staff member who has had an impact on you personally or professionally during the month. Items to consider include; motivation, inspiration, spiritual leadership, extraordinary effort in helping with job duties, etc. The award began in December of 2003 with the previous academic year's Professor of the Year and Staff Member of the Year. However, the awards should not necessarily stay divided between faculty and staff. The PEER AWARD is intended to mingle between the lines and cross all departments.

Eligibility

Full-time and part-time employees are eligible for PEER AWARD consideration. The senior leadership team is not eligible for the award.

Limits

The award may not be passed to a member within the same department as the current winner (ex. Polly Tribolet cannot pass the award to Becky Lyons). The award may not be passed to a member of the same family.

Recognition Avenues

A variety of avenues may be used to promote and notify the campus of the award winners, including: campus email, Campus Bulletin, Coffey Break, FUSE plug, Huntingtonian, Celebration of Service appreciation dinner, and/or recognition on this website. Keep a look out at the beginning of each month for the PEER AWARD winners.
