When Christen Batt visited Huntington University, she knew that she had found home.
Her years in Hardy Hall built a family, and times in the classroom created a career.
“It was actually a feeling that I had when I came to visit,” said Batt, a 2011 business management major with minors in marketing and accounting. “I could just feel that it was different than other places I had visited.”
Batt works today as a marketing specialist for Apollo Design in Fort Wayne. She coordinates tradeshows, creates contacts with clients and develops the website for Apollo as well as Blue Pony Digital, WaveCradle and JasperDaily.com — three other companies owned by Apollo.
“More than anything, it’s the variety in my day,” she said. “I’m not going to get bored with what I’m doing.”
Batt started working toward the position as a young girl, babysitting her neighbors’ horses. And today, those neighbors just so happen to own Apollo Design.
She started part time in the position before graduation, and grew into more responsibilities as time went on.
“There’s something new always thrown at me every day,” she said.
Despite beginning her HU career in pre-med, Batt found her “fit” in the business department, and even more surprisingly, in her marketing classes.
“I feel like I enjoyed the challenges that (the marketing classes) gave me,” she said. “Now that I’m in (that field) I feel that it’s a perfect fit for my personality.”
Batt lovingly reflects on her time at HU. It was the launching point of her career, and the start of a new family.
“That place was a true blessing for me,” she said about her time in Hardy Hall. “To this day, I feel like I’m sisters with those girls that I met there.”Discover what Huntington University can do for you.
