Office of the President

Welcome to Huntington University!

My name is Dr. Sherilyn Emberton, and it is my honor to serve as the 13th president of this great institution as we celebrate a 127-year legacy of focusing faith-integrated higher education.

When we begin a new academic year, the University takes a look back at all our accomplishments from the previous year. Here are my five favorite examples from the 23-24 academic year to share with you:

#5: Huntington University received a $250,000 planning grant from the Lilly Endowment’s College and Community Collaboration initiative.  The University’s project, Huntington Creative Village, was submitted by the City of Huntington as part of the READi program.  The Regional Development Authority recommended the project for possible funding to the Indiana Economic Development Corporation in August 2024.

#4: The Doctoral Program in Occupational Therapy for the HU-Arizona successfully launched the OTA/PTA Bridge to OTD program in January 2024.  HU is the only faith-based institution to offer this program.

#3: Forester Films’ first feature-length movie, A Carpenter’s Prayer, opened in 90+ theaters across the Midwest in August of 2024. Huntington University’s second film, Patterns, premiered in April of 2024.  Both HUAZ (4th) and HUIN’s DMA (2nd) programs finished in the top five BEA awards for 2024.

#2: Huntington University’s Alpha Chi received recognition as a Star Chapter for the prior year, continuing its legacy as one of only two out of the more than 300 Alpha Chi chapters in the United States to have received this award every year since the honor was launched in 1996.

#1: The University launched two market driven programs in 23-24, collaborating with Purdue University’s College of Veterinary Medicine for Veterinary Nursing and partnering with Indiana Tech University and Parkview Health System for the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program.

The 2024-2025 academic year promises to be one of our most exciting yet as we continue to pursue our legacy of impacting the world for Christ, through scholarship and service.

Blessings,

Dr. Sherilyn R. Emberton, President
